Mandan, N.D., Oct. 7, 2025 – Online safety and protecting your valuable data and personal information is a struggle for both businesses and families alike. As cybersecurity efforts evolve, so do the tactics of cybercriminals. It is imperative to realize the range of threats go far beyond phishing emails. Apps containing malware, unsecure WiFi networks and unlocked devices are increasingly common methods cybercriminals use to gain access to your information. And now with cybercriminals embracing artificial intelligence (AI), cyberattacks are more sophisticated and harder to detect than ever before. From deepfakes to malware, the attacks are evolving – and evolving knowledge of the various threats is the best way to protect yourself, your business and your community.
National Information Solutions Cooperative (NISC) believes the cornerstone of cybersecurity is education and wants to give you the tools to help your organization – and family – grow your awareness.
October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and the technology cooperative has refreshed and enhanced elements in its NISC CyberSense cybersecurity arsenal, a free educational toolkit available to organizations nationwide.
Designed specifically for rural electric cooperatives, public power utilities and communications companies, the kit includes informative animated videos, downloadable bill inserts, social media content and retractable banners. Many resources in this kit can be used by other organizations as well to share the message of staying safe online and tips on how to do precisely that.
“NISC is an IT cooperative, and part of the principles we believe in is ‘concern for community’. We strongly believe the more educated everyone is about cybersecurity and protecting their data, the better protected we will all be as a whole,” said Todd Eisenhauer, NISC Vice President of Business Services. “We have cybersecurity experts on staff that assist NISC Members with protecting their critical data, and we wanted to provide their insight and knowledge to help all in our global community stay safe. Cybersecurity threats keep increasing dramatically, and the impact this crime has on businesses, families and communities comes with a high price tag…And the worst part isn’t always financial, it’s your reputation on the line.”
NISC’s expertise in cybersecurity extends to a full suite of services designed to help Members of NISC protect their organizations from attacks, including:
- Education and training
- Endpoint protection
- Incident detection and response
- Perimeter defense
- Vulnerability management
- Patch management and automation
- Backup management
- Identity and access management
