Combined cooperative will accelerate innovation and deliver expanded value to Members

MANDAN, N.D., July 15, 2026 – Information technology cooperatives National Information Solutions Cooperative (NISC) and Meridian Cooperative announced today that Members of both cooperatives have voted to approve their merger, effective August 1, 2026.

The merger will unite the two cooperatives into a single, Member-led organization that will deliver faster, more advanced technology solutions that will equip its Members to effectively navigate evolving industry challenges. Members include communications providers, electric cooperatives, public utility districts, municipalities and public power entities.

The merger is a true fusion of the two cooperatives, blending their Boards of Directors, leadership, employees and Members into a single combined entity to best serve their Members and the market. Current NISC CEO Doug Remboldt will serve as CEO of the combined organization and current Meridian CEO Chris Haas will serve as its COO. The united cooperative will operate under the NISC name as it focuses on ensuring a smooth and successful integration.

“The overwhelming support from Members of both cooperatives reflects a shared belief in what we can build together,” Remboldt said. “By joining forces with Meridian, we are putting the cooperative model to work by uniting two like-minded organizations to deliver deeper expertise, expanded resources and an accelerated roadmap, while continuing to provide the trusted, top-notch support our Members have always relied on. We are genuinely excited about this new chapter.”

“The vote from Members of both cooperatives says it all – we are better together,” said Haas. “This is the cooperative model at its best, and a mandate to build something neither organization could have achieved alone. Together, we will deliver expanded innovation, greater expertise, and more resources to help our Members and their communities meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.”
