2021 NISC MIC: A Dynamic Week of Learning Comes to a Close

Louisville, Ky., Sept. 16, 2021 – NISC Members and staff came together for powerful general sessions and engaging learning opportunities at the 2021 Member Information Conference (MIC), held Sept. 13-16 at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Ky.

NISC Members, partners and staff attended more than 100 sessions focusing on the latest enhancements of the NISC Enterprise System, including 28 Member-led sessions sharing best practices with fellow industry peers. Updates on the technology roadmap and issues and opportunities facing the utility and broadband industries were also spotlighted during the event.

NISC also welcomed 37 exhibiting partners and vendors in the Partner Pavilion, showcasing a variety of solutions and services valuable to Member organizations. The Partner Pavilion also housed the ever-popular NISC demonstration booth and Solutions Lab, where NISC subject matter experts showcased the latest NISC innovations.

“We had a fantastic week with our Members,” said Dan Wilbanks, NISC President and CEO. “It’s been a longtime coming, but I’m so pleased to have had this week with our Membership, employees and invited guests. At the heart of MIC is learning, collaborating and networking, and we accomplished that. Our Members are the heartbeat of NISC, and to be able to have this two-way dialogue in person was extremely valuable. We hope they’re leaving with new knowledge and strengthened relationships with NISC employees and their fellow peers.”

In addition to a week of intense learning, MIC 2021 also included:

Early Birds for Thoroughbreds
Attendees jumpstarted the event with some exercise from an instructor-led #CoopStrong bootcamp. The event raised $15,490 to be donated to two local charities in the Louisville area— Retired Racehorse Project and Blessings in a Backpack. Donations are still being contributed through sales of #CoopStrong merchandise.

Activities
NISC hosted exclusive events allowing MIC attendees to explore the downtown Louisville area, including tours such as the Downtown Bourbon Trail, Louisville Slugger Museum, Foodie Tour and Frazier Museum.

MICfest at Churchill Downs
Attendees enjoyed an evening of unique food, fun and music at the historic Churchill Downs. Participants had the opportunity to tour the legendary site and hear concerts by rising country music stars Tigirlily and country music superstars Diamond Rio.

Celebrating the Commitment to Community
The 2021 Member Celebration showcased just a few of the many stories of NISC Members going above and beyond to recover from natural disasters and COVID.

Carey Lohrenz Shares Experiences
Carey Lohrenz, the first female F-14 Tomcat Fighter Pilot in the U.S. Navy, shared her fascinating experiences operating in one of the world’s most challenging environments – an aircraft carrier –  along with valuable leadership takeaways.

The 2022 MIC will be held in Nashville, Tenn. in 2022 and Denver in 2023.
