NISC Operations Analytics (OA) is an integrated platform for engineers and system operators of electric systems that uses hourly AMI reads for better decision-making. Harnessing the granularity of time-series data, NISC’s OA enables users to look beyond peak system analysis to better grasp real system performance.
NISC Operations Analytics integrates data from NISC’s Meter Data Management System (MDMS), the Member’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system and GIS in two ways.
- The first is an automated web solution that displays transformer loading and line losses (as well as SCADA and consumer voltage readings, when available). Users can adjust report criteria to meet their needs.
- The second is EDD’s Distributed Engineering Workstation (DEW). This engineering analysis software calculates the values displayed in OA. However, when installed on a user’s desktop it becomes an even more powerful tool. DEW can extract data for any time interval from NISC’S MDMS and apply it to the user’s GIS-generated distribution system model. DEW’s powerful myriad of analyses elevates use of time series data to a whole new level.
NISC Operations Analytics supports the analysis of system capacity, performance, compliance and operation:
Displays loading statistics for transformers across the system in relation to their designed capacity and helps detect overloaded transformers.
Integrates SCADA, MDM and DEW data to present loss and loading trends at the system, feeder and sub-feeder level for analysis.
Presents MDM and DEW voltage data and its spatial relationship to other components of the system to act on potentially damaging or demand response situations.
Supports operational analysis such as fault location, distributed energy resource, voltage reduction, and more.
