Integration with NISC’s enterprise system lets cooperative program managers run advanced DER capacity programs within familiar workflows
Lake Saint Louis, Missouri, September 9, 2026 – National Information Solutions Cooperative, a leading provider of IT and software solutions to communications and energy providers, announced a partnership with leading Distributed Energy Resource Management Solutions (DERMS) provider FlexEnergi to enhance its growing DERMS Partnership Program.

FlexEnergi’s Edge DERMS gives cooperatives the freedom to build programs spanning more than 80 residential, commercial and agricultural device categories, plus a no-hardware Behavioral Demand Response (BDR) pathway available to both residential and commercial Members. DERMS integration API allows control room operators can dispatch enrolled assets at the feeder, substation, or system-wide level — supporting any load-shaping strategy: load shed (the conventional demand response approach), load shift, load build, and firm dispatch.
The platform is also designed to integrate with a cooperative’s existing ADMS and SCADA systems, giving control room operators real-time visibility into feeder and substation conditions and enabling constraint-aware dispatch that adjusts automatically as grid conditions change. It can further connect to wholesale energy markets, allowing dispatch decisions to be informed by real-time and day-ahead locational marginal pricing and other market signals — turning Member-side flexibility into a resource that serves both grid operations and market participation.

NISC’s DERMS Partnership Program assists energy providers with effectively launching and managing DER programs for their consumers. Integration with FlexEnergi’s DERMS system allows NISC Members to leverage their NISC solutions to scale their DER programs and processes.
A DERMS-specific Application Programming Interface (API) powers the integration between NISC solutions and DERMS providers. The DERMS API leverages eight different integration points that support nearly every NISC Member without the need for custom integration, lowering costs and increasing adoptability.
